Gateway 2030: Main Contractor Site Visit
On Thursday, June 20th, 2019 AAA invited the five international construction companies that will bid for the Gateway 2030 expansion project of the Main Building Contract for a site visit at the airport. The site visit included a route through the existing terminal, partially on the airside and to-be-build site. 

Enabling Works 
Works related to the installation of utility lines and pits (electrical duct bank, fire hydrant and
chilled water) are complete. Connecting the new utilities to the existing utilities at the Terminal
Building is subject to coordination with all parties involved. The remaining works for the installation of the Chilled Water Line have been completed on the 21st of June 2019. After the necessary elbows were delivered. Soon after, the necessary thrust blocks were made and the trench was backfilled and compacted.

The main construction activities carried out during the Month of June were as follows: the start of placement precast slabs and reinforcement on crawl space, reinforcement completed for ground floor, reinforcement completed for columns, casting ground floor slab, casting of the first set of eight columns, the first block has been placed and second set of eight columns casted, third, fourth and final set of columns were casted, Chilled Water Line was completed, block work up to ring beam level completed, start of manufacturing precast slabs, Ring beam casted

American Airlines' LGA - AUA Route Extended
American Airlines recently launched its Saturday service between LGA - AUA. A trip across town to New York, LaGuardia offers even more opportunities to catch some sun.

American Airlines shared the exciting news that they will extend this recently launched summer service to AUA to operate year-round beginning in December! 

Southwest Airlines Celebrates Their 5th Anniversary 
Aruba Airport Authority N.V. (AAA) was delighted to host the Southwest Airlines’ staff with a breakfast celebration in honor of Southwest Airlines’ 5th anniversary providing roundtrip service to Aruba.

It was on July 1st, 2014 that Southwest Airlines launched their first inaugural flight from Baltimore (BWI) to Aruba. With this acquisition Aruba Airport opened up the possibilities for connections from other destinations and markets in the US. 

KLM Official Countdown To 100 Years
On June 29th, 2019 KLM Royal Dutch Airlines marked the 100th day before their 100th anniversary on October 7th, 2019. With a big celebratory launch event, KLM is officially counting down to their anniversary and in the upcoming months will be looking back at their journey with pride. Aruba Airport is also taking part in this milestone and celebrating with KLM leading up to the big day. 

American Airlines Self-Tagging Kiosks
All passengers can now use American Airlines' baggage self-tagging feature at one of the self check-in kiosks to make their travel experience much easier. 

AAA Entry Level Management Training
AAA offered an Entry Level Management training where all employees were invited to enroll. Approximately 45 employees enrolled and the first group kicked off the first training on June 24, 2019.

Employees from different units of AAA are participating and will receive training on Self Awareness & Understanding, Introduction to Management & Leadership, Planning & Organizing, Improving Communication and Motivation & Teamwork.

Active Shooter Awareness Seminar
Aruba Airport Authority N.V. in collaboration with JetBlue and Aruba Police Force recently organized for the first time an Active Shooter Awareness Seminar with over 240 participants. The purpose of the 2 sessions was to raise awareness on Active Shooter incidents and to equip participants with tips and advise on how to survive such an incident.
